About

My name is Beth Coleman. I am a multi-media Georgia-based artist exploring ideas of movement and growth through nature and abstraction.

Artist Statement

I am a Georgia-based multimedia artist. I come from a background of non-objective painting before I started exploring the world of print and papermaking. Merging these mediums has given me the freedom to break out of "the box" that is a square piece of paper or canvas. Finding freedom in my work is how I find my joy. My artistic journey has led me to make work that conceptually represents how I'm feeling through plants, prints, paint, fabric, robots, and honestly anything I can get my hands on.

My work often reflects growth whether it be subject or representational. I use themes of renewal, and emotional development that aim to challenge perceptions and inspire meaningful conversations. Each piece is an invitation to engage visually, socially, and emotionally. I find my practice of making to be equally, if not more important than what I produce. My practice of creation is an emotional release, which in turn provides introspection. The experimentation I imply through each project explores the idea of play through creation. Art is not just a practice for me; it’s my way of processing and understanding the world. I believe this raw, honest connection to my work makes it meaningful, not only to myself but to others who experience it.

ARTIST BIO

Beth Coleman is a Georgia-based multimedia artist pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in printmaking at the University of Georgia, where she will graduate in the spring of 2025. Her artistic journey began with non-objective painting, but her exploration of printmaking and papermaking has allowed her to push beyond the boundaries of a traditional square canvas.

By merging these mediums, Beth has discovered the freedom to create work that brings her joy and satisfies her creative curiosity. Her art conceptually reflects her emotions, often using plants as a motif for growth and change. For Beth, making art is a process of navigating the complexities of life—a way of "trying to be okay" that feels essential.

Art is not just a practice for Beth; it’s her way of processing and understanding the world. She believes that this raw, honest connection to her work is what makes it meaningful, not only to herself but to others who experience it.
